About the United Church of Christ

The United Church of Christ was formed in 1957, when the Evangelical and Reformed Church joined with the Congregational Christian Church.  Our beliefs are based on the bible as the rule of faith and the inspired Word of God, and the doctrinal teachings of our parent denominations, allowing freedom of conscience on points of difference.  We are ecumenically minded and denominationally governed.  We believe in infant baptism.  We admit to membership by confirmation, profession of faith and adult baptism or letter of transfer from any recognized Christian denomination.

The UCC denomination, this year, is celebrating 50 years of growing diversity. Member churches include a wide variety of ethnic background. This includes caucasian
, african-american, hispanic, asian, american-indian, samoan and many other groups

Mission Statement
  of Colonial Park UCC

Through God's active spirit in the world, to:
    - Invite individuals to make a personal commitment to Christ
    - Provide a loving, worshipping, supporting fellowship that creates
      continuing spiritual growth, and to
    -Share our resources in service to our neighbors and community.

To achieve this mission, members of Colonial Park pledge themselves:
    - to regularly attend the worship services and celebrate the Lord's Supper;
    - to live in the Christian Life; to seek diligently the spiritual welfare of the
      membership and the community;
    - and to subscribe to the personal disciplines of study, prayer, and meditation.

A diversity of theology and faith is expected and welcomed within our fellowship.
All members bring particular strengths and weaknesses, skills and degrees of faithfulness.
The essential ingredient for membership is faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to work and worship as God's people in this place.

How We Came To Be
Colonial Park Church was organized in 1783 as part of the Reformed Church.  We welcome people from diverse denominational backgrounds.  As a "church family" we are committed to nurturing individuals as faithful disciples of our Lord and to the church's corporate witness to justice and mercy.  We, of Colonial Park Church, believe that wherever there are people without the gospel, wherever there are people in need, wherever there is injustice, strife, hatred and greed - there the Church of Christ is bound by its Lord to bear witness, to serve, to reconcile, to rebuild.

Next year Colonial Park UCC will celebrate 225 year of celebrating a growing diversity. We want to be the place in central Pennsylvania were people can come to celebrate faith in our God in an atmosphere of equal diversity. We hope you will join us...if you are not sure about us listen to our Recent Sermons.
