Make Ready A People 02/11/18

Please plan to be with us this Sunday, February 11, 2018 for Worship at 8:15 & 10:45am when Pastor Cindy will continue our Worship Series:  Angels Among Us:  #DoNotBeAfraid Flying in the face of Fear with Make Ready a People:  #morehope.   The Sanctuary Choir will present “Angel Breathing Out” at the 10:45am service.   This Sunday we’re also thrilled to be welcoming four New Disciples to our church family:  Debbie Nauss, Lenny & Susan Soto and Fran Whitehurst.  I’ll hope you’ll be here to welcome them.  Stop by to meet them in Fellowship Hall after church and enjoy some conversation and refreshments (help them by wearing your name tag ).

About the series:  During this time between Epiphany and Lent, we are hearing stories of angel appearances in Scripture. They came to an old and barren couple, a young girl barely a woman, a simple and humble man betrothed to her and finally, to lowly shepherds on a hillside. They came to people like you and me. God worked through ordinary people and did extraordinary things. And so it is that God works through us every time we offer messages of hope, peace, joy and love to an anxious world. We are called to fly in the face of fear–-to be angels among us.

Sunday School for All ages will be held at 9:30am.  Click on the link below for the Announcements to see what the three adult classes are studying/discussing this week.

“The Charging Station” meets Sunday evenings at 5pm.

Different then our more “formal” Sunday morning worship services, The Charging Station is a perfect setting for those who are looking for a more casual, intimate worship experience.  Music is upbeat and engaging, led by a team of expert musicians.  You won’t find a formal sermon here, but rather will have the opportunity to be a part of “Holy Conversation,” where we explore together how the Scriptures may speak to our lives.  Following worship, the community experience continues with a shared meal.

If you know of someone who is looking for a fully inclusive and engaged worshiping community, please invite them to like our Facebook Page!  Check in to Facebook each week to find out what the upcoming conversation will be at each service.

Wednesday Nights in Lent:

Pastor Cindy invites you to Wednesday night Lenten soup suppers.  6:30pm soup will be followed by a meditation or activity at 7pm, until roughly 730 pm. A number of the evenings are a simple reflection that will be offered by Pastor Cindy based on the book that she is using for the Sunday themes in Lent (Open the Door: A Journey to the True Self by Joyce Rupp). She encourages you to use the book on your own for reflection, prayer, and meditation.
