Refugee Project22 Apr, 2016 in Main Page by Kathy Neely Colonial Park UCC will participate with local refugee organizations to provide temporary housing for refugee families. Our former parsonage is being renovated to provide a clean, safe, comfortable temporary home. Once renovations are complete families will be placed with us and we will assist the refugee organization as they provide job placement, education, language assistance, and permanent housing. We will assist with the tasks involved in day to day living (food, personal care items, household goods and supplies, etc.) and help to acclimate families to our area and culture. We’ve had one workday already (pictures below) and have another scheduled for April 23 from 9am-3pm. The scope of work for the project includes patching & painting, pulling up the carpet, redoing the floors, cleaning & updating the bathrooms, repairing the heating system in the kitchen, updating the kitchen appliances, countertops and floors. In addition to the work aspect, we’ll also be collecting the furniture needed for the rooms, toiletries, cleaning supplies, food, curtains, etc (we aren’t quite at that stage yet – but soon). For more information about the project contact Liz August at 805-0390 or firstname.lastname@example.org or the church office at 717-545-3782 or email@example.com. Check back often for updates.
